Tree Theme Critirea

The following criteria have been chosen in the development of tree themes for the City of Cypress. The justification for the theme of each district is identified on the theme page. However, the basic criteria used in the development of tree themes is listed below:

1. There will be one to two varieties of trees for the perimeter streets of each district. The determination of the tree variety will be based on:
a) the planting site (If the planting sites are different from one arterial street to the next then different trees have been suggested for planting for each site)and;
b) the trees that will be planted in adjacent districts.

2. There will be two to three varieties of trees inside the tract on the residential streets. In general, the following criteria will be adhered to:
a) planting site,
b) east and west streets will have one variety, north and south streets another, and where applicable, cul-de-sacs a third variety, and
c) if the district is made up of different tracts, there may be two or more themes per district.

3. A color code for each street identifies the specific tree for that tract. This code can be seen on the street tree master plan.

4. Current approved trees in the area will have an influence on the themes chosen for the tract.
