Captain Edward Bish Captain Ed Bish has been employed by the Cypress Police Department for the past twenty-four years. He was hired as a reserve officer in July of 1985, and advanced to full-time police officer on January 19, 1986. Ed worked as a Field Training Officer, was selected as one of the original officers to start the department’s first tactical team, was a member of the Narcotics Unit, and served as a Police Service Dog handler. He was selected by his peers as the 1994 Officer of the Year. Ed promoted to Police Sergeant in December of 1995 where he worked uniformed patrol, supervised the department’s newly-formed Special Enforcement Unit, and served as the Adjutant to the Chief of Police.

Ed Bish promoted to the rank of Police Lieutenant in October of 2003. He held various duties to include mid-management of the Operations and Support Services Divisions. His responsibilities included oversight of the department’s $13 million dollar budget. Ed served as the SWAT Commander for the city of Cypress for over 5 years. He was instrumental in collaborating with four other cities in West Orange County to form what is now known as the regional West County SWAT Team.

Ed promoted to the rank of Captain in July of 2009. Captain Bish is a graduate of P.O.S.T. Supervisory Leadership Institute program, Class 130 and P.O.S.T. Command College, Class 41. He possesses his Advanced, Supervisory, and Management Certificates from California's Peace Officer Standards in Training. Ed also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from California State University of Long Beach.
